Been an OG back 40 customer since they opened, and have always had great service, yummy food and snazzy drinks. We seem to make it to Back 40 more often on Sundays for Brunch than any other time. The boozy coffees are delish and you cannot go wrong with any of the Benedicts they offer. My guy likes the hash benedict and I enjoy the Nashville bennies or the pulled pork. (Side note- took a star off for the two separate times Ive asked for poached hard and they come out runny- sorry guys. I cant do runny eggs!!) The truffle homefries are great as well as the hollandaise sauces that come with it. Each one has a different vibe. Cereal shots are always tasty, but honestly the bloody mary's go best with the bennies. Staff is always usually attentive and friendly, unless they are too busy like they were last Sunday but management made a full recovery and of course we'll be back. Let us know next time Olivia and her man come through, we'll meet them for brunch ;)
Amazing customer service from the moment I called to get on the list to be seated to the end. Zach was our server and he made amazing recommendations that we bought 3 main courses for my husband and I. Very loud environment on Friday evening so maybe go there in the afternoon if you want a quieter atmosphere where you can hear the people at your table. The Back 40 burger and fries were my favorite meal out of the 3 meals I tried today. So thank you Zach for recommending that! Fish tacos were okay, they had a little kick to them and I can't eat spicy anymore so if you're sensitive to spice like I am, skip the fish tacos. The Mac & cheese has a bit too much breading but not bad. My son had the chicken tenders and he had fun playing with his food and he said it was delicious so I'm always happy when they're happy! Nachos were also good, they had seasoning salt on the chips, not too bad. Had the "Light My Fire" margarita and substituted the ghost tequila for patron silver and it was perfect! We will be back but earlier in the day.
Absolute great atmosphere, been three or four times over the last couple of years and each time has been a great experience. Food and cocktails have been on point each time and have enjoyed each of our visits with fond affection. Very professional service and attentive waitstaff have made for enjoyable times here.
Following my Goddaughter's first communion, Back40 was the first choice for dinner. We had 15 adults and 2 children. Considering it was a fairly large party, they had one large table and one smaller one right behind it that sat six. The waiter came over right away and was very friendly. Before taking our drink orders, he gave us time to get situated. My mom and I ended up getting the traditional eggs Benedict. My husband ordered corn beef hash eggs Benedict and my dad got a burger. All said their food was delicious. Despite the fact that the tables were a little close to other patrons dining, unsure if this was due to the extra table they added for us or if this was the norm, and the limited menu, I would've loved to have more choices for brunch, I would still give a solid 5 stars. You will definitely leave full, prices are reasonable, service and food were excellent.
Every time I drive out to Newport, this place is PACKED, which is quite the surprise because it really seems like it's in the middle of nowhere. I've always wondered if it's because there's nowhere else around or if it's legitimately good. Having now stopped, I can say the latter is true. It's pub food, but with quality ingredients and prepared well. There's even some creative takes on a meal such as the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich, because honestly gravy and cranberry just makes any turkey sandwich better. Overall, the indoor decor looks like it could be featured on the Magnolia channel with its slightly rustic and on trend usage of various industrial elements. However, I imagine that on a nice summer day, the porches are clearly the best place to be.
Got together with some friends who brought along their sweet and adorable 1 1/2 year old for brunch this past weekend. We called ahead and when we arrived at the restaurant we were seated right away. There appeared to be a large baby shower happening in one half of the restaurant and brunch in the other, the bar was also half full when we got there at noon. We received our drinks right away, which included mimosas with OJ, pineapple and cranberry juice, all were delicious!! Our food arrived approximately half an hour after we ordered which included four adult meals and one kids meal. Everything was correct and we dug right in. The brunch is to die for, I would recommend Back 40 for adults and families!!
post a long run at South County Bike Path, we ate here outside with our dogs and had Starters: Back 40 nachos (great) Corn dip Boneless Chicken bites (good) Meal: Back 40 Burger (very tasty)
Ordered their Bourbon Oak Burger and it wasn't that bad. ($16) Cooked well, soft bun and decent size. Could have used more barbecue sauce and they barely put any onion strings. A big juicy onion ring would've been much better. The fries that came with it were hot and crispy. Almost everybody seemed to be eating a burger or sandwich so that's probably the safe order. It wasn't busy but service was a little slow. Chill atmosphere.
There is good parking space on both ends of the restaurant. When you come in you notice there is a porch setting that looks like fun to eat / hangout outside. There's different styles of seating. A big bar with several alcohol and mocktail options. The chairs are comfy by the bar. The food was prepared very quickly. The server provided the food fast and asked about the order. There is a large back yard space ! Looks like there is outdoor seating
